It’s been said that the best way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Luckily, Gwynedd Valley has a plethora of incredible eateries. Here are 10 of the best ways to treat loved ones to a splendid dinner this Valentine’s Day

The Farmer’s Daughter

If your perfect Valentine’s Day includes upscale dining that feels like a home-cooked meal, you’ll want to stop by The Farmer’s Daughter. Located inside the Normandy Farm Hotel, this luxurious restaurant keeps things comfortable and candlelit. Executive Chef Mtele Abubakar serves up farm-fresh delicacies that reflect seasonal produce for a constantly evolving menu. You’ll enjoy every bite of this farm-to-table dinner designed specifically to honor their culinary team’s mission of providing modern farm cooking.

Turn your romantic dinner into an indulgent getaway with a stay at the Normandy Farm Hotel. This 288-year-old lodging was adapted from horse stables and silos without disrupting any of the historical appeal. Whether you stay in a carriage house guest suite or a king-size room in the manor house, your Valentine’s Day stay is certain to be an unforgettable experience.

Blue Bell Inn

If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day destination that combines modern elegance with rustic charm, look no further than the Blue Bell Inn. Since 1743, Blue Bell Inn has been serving the community with their homage to American cuisine. Their modern spin on traditional American dishes combined with their historic location makes this a top choice for a Valentine’s Day feast.

Grab a bite from the raw bar, where they’re plating east and west coast oysters, cherry stone clams, and even Maine lobster tail. Seafood lovers will also adore their dinner selections, like citrus-glazed red snapper and broiled South African lobster tails. If you prefer red meat, enjoy an herb-marinated Wagyu flank steak or an eight-ounce center-cut filet mignon. Their happy hour runs every day of the week, so be sure to grab a specialty cocktail or a glass of merlot. Call in your reservation today—you don’t want to miss your chance at an incredible dinner at the Blue Bell Inn.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Soak up the picturesque countryside from above the clouds on a group or private flight with The United States Hot Air Balloon team this Valentine’s Day. This interactive experience lets guests be hands-on (if they want!). Help inflate the balloon and learn tips and tricks about ballooning from the professionals while your ride is being prepared. You’ll spend about an hour floating over the sunset for a total experience time of around two and a half hours.

Don’t forget dinner! Included with the flight are refreshments and a complimentary champagne toast to celebrate. If you’re a first-time flyer, browse the FAQ page to learn what to expect during your romantic evening, and book your excursion online today!

Spring House Tavern

When you take a seat at the Spring House Tavern, you are participating in over 300 years of history. Established in 1719, the Spring House Tavern has been a trademark of the area since long before the Burns family expanded it into the restaurant we know it as today. Reservations are highly recommended, as this tavern fills up quickly—especially on Valentine’s Day.

Their dinner menu features classics such as jumbo fried gulf shrimp and chicken parmesan with homemade marinara, but the real star of the show is their world-famous crab cakes. They’ve sold over one and a half million, and customers keep coming back for more. After dinner, celebrate this special holiday with a delectable dessert, like one of their seasonal pies a la mode. Come early and enjoy happy hour drinks, including any of their 16 beers on tap, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Whether you prefer to toast with a Templeton Manhattan or a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut, this tavern will keep the drinks coming all night long.

Bridget’s Steakhouse

If your Valentine is more of a steak and potatoes person, then consider dinner for two at Bridget’s Steakhouse, where traditional steakhouse fare is transformed into an upscale dining experience. Located in downtown Ambler, this restaurant opened with the intention of revamping the area, and Bridget’s is definitely kicking things up a notch.

Their well-rounded dinner menu features both a refreshing Milan salad and a rich rack of lamb. You won’t be disappointed by the au poivre cheesesteak crafted with filet mignon, strip steak, and rib-eye or 12-hour cooked braised short ribs. Plus, if you’re looking for a little surf and turf, you’ll find that here, too. Sauteed mussels, lobster risotto, and even banana chips and sesame-crusted ahi tuna make their way onto the menu at this versatile steakhouse. Bridget’s mission to add a little flavor and flair to traditional meals makes this a wonderful dinner spot for Valentine’s Day.

Melody’s Viet-Thai Grillhouse

Travel to nearby Ambler and indulge in eastern Asian delicacies at Melody’s Viet-Thai Grillhouse. Head Chef Thanh Nguyen combines traditional flavors with modern styles to create dishes that are unforgettable. Their extensive winter menu is rich with hearty items to keep you warm this season. Start with a plate of Vietnamese Carpaccio or chicken dumplings with sweet chili sauce to start. Thai clam soup hot pot or Ginger Scallion Prawns from the wok are perfect to share or savor yourself. Seating is limited, so you’ll want to make reservations in advance to secure a table this Valentine’s Day.

Cairnwood Estate Beer Tasting

This Valentine’s Day, consider skipping dinner and going straight to drinks. Cairnwood Estate is hosting “Hearts and Hops” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on February 15th this year. Cairnwood Estate will take on a new look as it is transformed into an indoor, German-inspired biergarten, where couples can sample local microbrews and relax while listening to live music and playing lawn games inside the warmth of the estate. Sage Catering is providing both sweet and savory small plates to accompany the drinks all evening long.

Cairnwood Estate was established by John Pitcairn, co-founder of Pittsburgh Plate Glass, in 1895, and it remains a National Historic Landmark today, with immaculately kept grounds and beautiful gardens. Only 17 miles from Gwynedd Valley, this is the perfect Valentine’s Day destination that’s not too far from home. Tickets are available to purchase now for adults 21 and over. General admission is $50 per ticket, but Cairnwood Estate members can enjoy this special Valentine’s Day event for $37.50 each. Book your ticket today for a night out with your sweetheart this February.

OOKA Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse

Since 2000, OOKA has served Willow Grove and Gwynedd Valley by bringing a taste of Japan to Pennsylvania. Offering both sushi and hibachi, this restaurant is perfect for an intimate dinner for two this Valentine’s Day. Dive into pan-seared diver scallops, sauteed yaki udon, or oven-baked sesame chicken from the dinner menu, where each meal is served with complimentary miso soup, garden salad, and white rice. Try one of their signature sushi rolls, like their Haru no Hana roll with seared pepper tuna and tobiko. For a luxurious dinner, consider opting for their OOKA Deluxe hibachi. Treat yourself to Surf & Turf angus filet mignon and lobster tail or New York steak, chicken, and shrimp this Valentine’s Day.

Though the restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, you can completely personalize your dining experience by bringing along your favorite sake. OOKA has been presented a Best of Philly award for sushi, and a meal here is sure to help make your Valentine’s Day memorable.

Romance on the Rails Dinner Train

From February 10th through 14th, the Colebrookdale Railroad is offering a special dinner train, which is the perfect romantic setting for Valentine’s Day evening. Departing from nearby Boyertown at 6:30 p.m., this train is serving up tapas, dinner, and dessert.  Seating is available in first class for diners who would like to enjoy the tapas selection and dining class for guests who want to experience the full meal. There are also a few openings left aboard cupid’s caboose.

Families are more than welcome to bring the kids along for the ride. Adult tickets are $90 per seat, and tickets for children age 2 to 12 are $45. All reservations can be made online. Dining on the train is an extravagant experience any time of year, and a luxurious dinner while coursing through the countryside is sure to be a memorable evening.

Ristorante Castello

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like Italian food. The winner of a Diner’s Choice Award in 2018, it’s not hard to see why people love Ristorante Castello. Guests can start the night off right with an appetizer of calamari, crab meat mushrooms, or oysters paired with a crisp wine. When it comes to entrees, the restaurant serves up everything from hazelnut ravioli and fresh fish to filet mignon and veal with prosciutto. And what’s date night without dessert? End your mouthwatering meal with a selection from the irresistible sweets tray.

Make sure to reserve your spot today. Can’t make dinner? Ristorante Castello’s lunch is just as delicious. Grab an eggplant parmesan panini, fresh Caprese salad, or one of several incredible fish or chicken dishes. Feel free to bring your own wine or champagne to enjoy, too!
